A Trusted Path Toward Zero-Emission Shipping

AURELIA’s Penelope represents a pivotal leap towards achieving zero-emission shipping, but also an innovative green ship design, that leads the industry’s sustainable transition.

AURELIA brings sufficient trust in technologies to boost the transition to decarbonised ships.

Problem

Access mismatch
Small Caribbean islands rely on shallow harbours. Conventional cargo ships are too large to enter them, forcing vessels to bypass these ports. The result is irregular supply, unpredictable costs, and long wait times for essential goods.

Rising cost pressure
The shipping industry remains dependent on fossil fuels. Large vessels generate high emissions, and upcoming carbon tax regulations will increase operating costs. Despite this, ship owners hesitate to adopt alternatives due to limited trust in new, unproven technologies.

Untapped presence
Luxury yachts regularly anchor near these islands but operate separately from local logistics and community needs. At the same time, affluent travellers are actively seeking sustainable, purpose-driven experiences that align with their values, yet find few credible options.

Systemic gap
Communities need access. Ship owners need certainty. Conscious travellers seek impact. The current maritime model does not connect these needs.

solution

Three pillars are combined to get the most out of the project

Green Cargo Delivery for Small Islands
Demonstration of a profitable cargo shipping model through the vessel PENELOPE

Impact Travel for the Conscious Voyagers
Additional revenue stream to ensure lower overall costs

A Sailing lab to demonstrate and pilot green technologies
Integration of advanced technology to systematically reduce vessel running costs.

Features

Multifunctional Design
Custom-build design for both cargo transport and boutique passenger travel without compromising comfort or efficiency.

Wind-powered Sailing
Penelope is fully capable of sailing using no fuel*.
Penelope can achieve an average of up to 30% fuel savings when using the engine in low winds.
